Where do I get GLEW and SDL?

Get GLEW here: http://glew.sourceforge.net/
Get SDL here: http://www.libsdl.org/download-1.2.php

Windows:

GLEW:

(Taken from: http://glew.sourceforge.net/install.html)
You'll need to copy the following files from the GLEW archive:

./bin/GLEW32.dll to %SystemRoot%/System32 (or %SystemRoot%/System)
./lib/GLEW32.lib to {VC Root}/Lib
./include/GL/GLEW.h to {VC Root}/Include/GL
./include/GL/wGLEW.h to {VC Root}/Include/GL

On most 32bit Windows systems with Visual Studio the {VC Root} would be:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\{NEWEST VERSION}\

SDL:

If installing for Windows, download the binaries from: http://www.libsdl.org/download-1.2.php
Once you've that, you'll need to perform a very similar copy routine to what you did with GLEW:

SDL.dll to %SystemRoot%/System32 (or %SystemRoot/System)
./Include/ to {VC Root}/Include/
./Lib to {VC Root}/Lib

Linux:

GLEW:

If you're on Debian, the following command should get you GLEW:

sudo apt-get install libglew1 libglew-dev

Or, if you'd prefer to compile it yourself... the following may help:

(Taken from: http://glew.sourceforge.net/install.html)
On UNIX-based systems, typing:

make install

Will attempt to install GLEW into /usr/include/GL and /usr/lib. You can customize the installation
target via the GLEW_DEST environment variable if you do not have write access to these directories.

SDL:

You can download the source from: http://www.libsdl.org/download-1.2.php
Alternatively, you should be able to download SDL from the repositories, if supported (Debian).
The following command should give you everything you need:

sudo apt-get install build-essential
sudo apt-get install libsdl-1.2debian libsdl-1.2debian-alsa libsdl-1.2dev libsdl-image1.2 libsdl-image1.2-dev libsdl-mixer1.2 libsdl-mixer1.2-dev libsdl-net1.2 libsdl-net1.2-dev
sudo apt-get install mesa-common-dev libglu1-mesa-dev

Mac:

GLEW:

(Taken from: http://glew.sourceforge.net/install.html)
On UNIX-based systems, typing:

make install

Will attempt to install GLEW into /usr/include/GL and /usr/lib. You can customize the installation
target via the GLEW_DEST environment variable if you do not have write access to these directories.

SDL:

SDL for Mac OSX is available here: http://www.libsdl.org/download-1.2.php
